Change the Registered Agent for a Mississippi LLP

Listing an address that is not staffed

The new agent's address must be a physical location where someone is present during business hours. Listing a home that is often empty, or an address the "agent" does not actually control, recreates the exact problem you are trying to solve. Naming someone who has not agreed

An agent must consent. Naming a friend, a former partner, or a relative without confirming they are willing and available invites a resignation down the road — and another change to make.

Forgetting to update other records

The Secretary of State's record is the legal one, but your bank, your insurer, and your own internal documents may reference the old agent or the old address. Update those too, so everyone is contacting the firm at the right place.

Letting the change lapse into non-compliance

If you never complete the filing after an agent leaves, the firm drifts out of good standing. That can eventually threaten the LLP registration and the liability shield it provides. Finish the change; do not leave it half-done.
