Update your internal records too

Once the change is official, note the new agent in your operating agreement records, your compliance calendar, and anywhere else you track the company's details. If you use a service, make sure the contact and forwarding details on file with them are current so documents actually reach you.

Watch your annual report timing

Hawaii's annual report is due within the quarter that matches your registration quarter. A registered agent change does not reset that deadline, but if your former agent was the one reminding you, make sure the new arrangement covers those reminders so you do not miss the window.

Missed service of process

If your agent resigns and you do not replace them, or the address on file is stale, a lawsuit served on that address may never reach you. An LLC that operates without a valid registered agent is out of compliance. Combined with missed annual reports, that can lead Hawaii to administratively dissolve the entity.
